SI CHIAMA JANUS, IL SUPER "SUPERCOMPUTER"

fonte ansa:

A supercomputer capable of giving a power of 8 POps, or 8 million billion operations per second consuming only 10 Kw. His name is Janus and is the fruit of a partnership Italo-Spanish, which in two years has joined the University of Ferrara in Rome La Sapienza, Bifi institute and the University of Zaragoza, the institute Iia of Argon, 'University of Madrid and of Extremadura.
Janus, which is the computer with greater power in the world in its field as well as the smaller, lower consumption, has been presented today in Trento the European Centre for Theoretical Studies in Nuclear Physics and Related Areas (Ect) by Italian researchers and Spanish which have created.
Janus was created in Trento from Eurotech in its research centre Ethlab. Eurotech is a company based in Friuli active in the research and production of computers and miniaturized high-capacity computing. To make transactions that Janus prepare in one second, three billion people there would 60 days.
Janus is also the first computer to the world to contain many elements in a space so small a wardrobe of 1 meter by 1 meter, alto 2. Capable of studying objects ever smaller, 'sees' and can simulate structures that otherwise modern science could not even watch. As explained today Giorgio Parisi, recent winner of the Microsoft Award for Science in Europe, Janus should accelerate studies in the field of research and scientific applications of simulation in the field of Nanotechnology and Life Sciences, especially in studies on the effects of medicines on the generation of new cells.
